Y2K impacts and actions all come together in communities where
all business, government, independent sector operations and services
converge with day-to-day lives of families and neighborhoods. The
Y2K problems may not be fully completed and critical systems will
not all be failsafe. These issues were explored at the special World
Future Society Y2K Conference in December 1998 and the results were
posted to the WFS website. This follow-on session will provide an
update on what is being and needs to be done. |

As we move into the 21st Century, Darwinism and evolutionary
theory are increasingly changing what we know and believe about
nature, humanity, and organizational structures. All this is profoundly
affecting the future course of sciences ranging from medicine to
anthropology-and even bringing about radical changes in management
and organization theory. New sciences, such as geoengineering, are
emerging as a result. Software development is becoming evolutionary,
and the Internet is increasingly seen as, like Nature, a living
laboratory for mutation. What will all this ferment mean in the
21st Century? How will it affect how we live, what we believe, and
how we behave in our work and our personal lives? A distinguished
panel will explore what may well be the dominant intellectual context
of the next century, to be followed by breakout groups in which
audience members can discuss the implications of all this with panelists. |
