Cybercop Portal makes offer PFI can’t
refuse…
The ESP (Extranet
Secure Portals) Group LLC, a Virginia-based Application Service
Provider and the designer of the Cybercop Secure Portal, is generously
providing their services and resources to all PFI members at no
cost to the organization or it’s membership. PFI member Kevin
Manson, one of the founders and administrators for the Cybercop
Portal, is responsible for facilitating this terrific arrangement.
“The ESP Group LLC was established to commercialize
the secure portal technologies developed for The Extranet for Security
Professionals (The ESP), developed at the Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency (DARPA). It was created at DARPA and matured at
Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute.
The ESP Group LLC now operates The ESP for the Government and has
successfully transferred the technology to clients that it serves
in the public and private sectors. The ESP is well known in the
Government's Security Community.
The team that developed The ESP's technology formed the ESP Group
LLC to manage The ESP. They specialize in building, hosting and
customizing web-based applications for organizations that need to
share sensitive information over the Internet (espgroup.net)”.
The Cybercop Portal created and hosted by The
ESP Group emphasizes security through its network architecture and
its underlying rights-based applications. The Portal allows users
to share libraries of documents and case studies, send secure e-mail,
participate in ongoing threaded discussions, create and distribute
surveys and share online briefings.
PFI Member Kevin Manson is the director of Cybercop.org,
a non-profit educational organization. His public service career
spans all three branches of governmental service. He is a Senior
Instructor with the Financial Fraud Institute at the Federal
Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) where he co-ordinates
the internet forensics and investigators training prgrams.
In 1993, while an instructor with the FLETC Legal Division, he
pioneered Internet training for the federal law enforcement community.
He chaired the first panel to provide Congressional testimony from
a law enforcement perspective about protecting children on the Internet.
His web page, Cybercop.org,
was the first to be included in the Congressional Record.
His involvement in High tech law enforcement issues was referenced
in the January 23, 1995 US News cover story on Policing Cyberspace
and a 1997 BBC television special airing in the UK on the History
of the Internet. Kevin’s training, education and experience
is diverse and extensive. His enthusiastic approach to learning
and teaching is truly motivational and out-matched only by his incredible
energy level. Our sincere thanks to Kevin Manson , Matt Donlon and
The ESP Group.
